Multi-Ethnic Cultural and Cocurricular Programming Advisory Committee (MECCPAC)
The Multi-Ethnic Cultural and Cocurricular Programming Advisory Committee (MECCPAC) is a diversity initiative offered through The Multicultural Center. The committee reviews applications to provide co-sponsorship funds for cultural, educational, and multi-ethnic programs that help build awareness and appreciation within the Illinois State community for African American, Latin American, Native American, and Asian American cultures; women; people with disabilities; and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and ace identified persons (LGBTQIA+).
MECCPAC Funding
Registered student organizations, academic departments, the International House, and other groups hosting events that promote diversity education and build cultural awareness and appreciation can apply for funding from MECCPAC for their events. MECCPAC will share financial responsibility to combine resources to promote multicultural programming for approved applications.
Application Guidelines:
1. MECCPAC application and budget forms must be submitted at least one month prior to the event to be considered for funding. MECCPAC responds to only expenses that can be invoiced.
2. Submit completed applications and budgets to the MECCPAC chair, Dr. Christa Platt, for initial review. Note: Applications and budgets are only accepted online.
3. Once reviewed, you will be contacted by the MECCPAC chair, Dr. Christa Platt, who will inform you if your request has been approved or denied.
MECCPAC Co-Sponsorship Timeline/Checklist
Five weeks prior to the program
- Complete an application online
- Please include:
- A proposed program agenda
- A complete budget form, including other sources which you are requesting
Four weeks prior to the program
- Present your program proposal to the MECCPAC chair
- Distribute final advertising
- Publicity MUST include the following:
- Accommodations statement (see below)
- Be printed on recycled paper and include the recycle symbol
- Co-sponsored by MECCPAC—A Multicultural Center Initiative
- Accommodations statement:
If you need an accommodation to fully participate in this program/event, please contact (name, host department) at (phone number and email address). Please allow sufficient time to arrange the accommodation.
- Publicity MUST include the following:
Ten days or fewer after the event occurs (if funding is approved)
- Forward a completed Post-program Summary to Dr. Christa Platt at cdplatt@IllinoisState.edu
- Forward bills for funds that have been granted to:
